Hey.
I've been having some problems with transfer speeds on our network since we switched to Windows Server 2012 (on a domain) from Windows XP (As a file server on a workgroup). Everything has been running fine except for executing files on the server.
We store some installers for software on our server, and these are run fairly often around the office. Usually directly off the server (through a mapped drive), as that is where the latest version of the installer will be. These installers are usually about 100-150Mb.
Running these installers off the server since the switch to Windows Server 2012 now takes anywhere between 5mins - 2hours. Whereas it would only take a few seconds before. Copying the file to your own PC and running it locally is an easier solution, as the file copies very fast. But we need to be able to run them off the server.
I have been looking at the network performance in the task manager when accessing an installer remotely and the output looks like it is being limited by something, but I don't know what. I have attached an image of the task manager output.
What could be the cause of this limit on network speeds during file execution?
I have Symantec Endpoint Protection, Small Business Edition installed on the server, but I have tried the file execution with it disabled, and the same symptoms occur.
