Hi everyone,
Happy New Year to you all! I wish a peaceful year to all people serving as I.T. roles!
My boss has dumped a few things on me... one of them is to have me to disable the SMBv1 on the windows servers. He also sent me the link:https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2696547/detect-enable-disable-smbv1-smbv2-smbv3-in-windows-and-windows-server
On the server, I ran Get-SmbConnection and I could see only v3 as the dialect. However, when I got to the add/remove features, I could see v1 is installed.
I would still like to ask the following:
1.) Is SMB service is installed and activated by default on Windows server? Or it is added only when Print and/or File sharing is added?
2.) I know I can remove the SMB v1 thru the add/remove features. If I do so...would v2 or v3 still be enabled? Or I need to do something to enable them? I could not see v2 and v3 in the Add/Remove features and that is why I ask.
3.) Just curious to ask...if there is a script I can run to remotely retrieve the smb status on each server?
Thank you for your help in advance!
