I just migrated from Windows Small Business Server 2011 (Windows 2008 R2) to an new environtment, containing an new Virtual Windows Server 2019 File Server.
We've cleaned up all group policies, WMI Filters etc, which are no longer needed.
The network is a small network, which contain the following specs:
-Windows Server 2019 AD Server, with File Services
-Windows Server 2012 R2 Server with File Services (for Test purposes)
-Windows Server 2016 Server with Exchange 2016
-Windows 10 Professional Clients
-Network 1Gbps
-Active Directory Windows Server 2016 Level (Domain and Forest Level)
-Sysvol migrated to DFSR
Hardware Server:
HP ProLiant DL380 Gen10
128Gb Internal Memory
8 480Gb Solid State Drives (RAID 5)
Now the problem is as follows:
On the Windows 2019 Server, accessing files (Word, PDF etc) is terrible slow. For example, when a client try to open an PDF File on the Windows Server 2019 on a share. It takes about 15-30 seconds to open Acrobat and the specific file. The Client itself has 8Gb RAM, 256Gb Solid State Drive, Windows 10 Pro and 1Gbps Network.
If i move the share, containing the files on the Windows Server 2019 server, for example to the Windows Server 2012 R2, opening the file takes less than 1 second!
I spoke various people, and they all say, it has something to do with the different SMB Protocol.
Please help,
