Limited hardrive space on an aging 2003 server

My customer has a Windows 2003 R2 server. We want to install a new application that requires 2 GB of Hardrive space and 2 GB of memory. Upgrading to Server 2012 needs to be done sometime this year but for now we have to deal with the situation.

Currently the C or boot drive has a total of 12 GB and 3.8  GB are free. There is a D drive that has a 130 GB size with 107 GB free. Can we install an application that is a data base type program to the D drive. There will be six workstations that are to  access the data onto the D drive.

Will performance suffer because of the small amount of free space on the D drive? Can the paging file be moved from the c drive to the d drive?

How much help will adding more memory to the computer? say add 4GB of memory.

Thanks,
Paul
