I´m just starting to play around with DFS, and this is probably stupid problem. I´ve seen this: http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/archive/2009/06/29/deploying-dfs-replication-on-a-windows-failover-cluster-part-i.aspx but I didn´t do DFS replication, because I only have one cluster in my enviroment.
I have 2 nodes running 2012 R2 in a lab, and I created clustered file server, hostname:FILESRV. I installed DFS features on both nodes, and when I try to create DFS name, the wizard offers me only hostname-based name. Domain based name is grayed out. So, I only can have \\filesrv\files but I really need \\domain\files.
Is this something which is not possible to do, or did I miss configured something?
I also noticed, that DFS itself can be clustered, but it requires extra disks. Perhaps I should cluster DFS, not File Server?
