Hi,
I have a 2008 R2 server, primary duties are DC and handling the iSCSI connection to my ReadyNAS Pro.
Last week I tried to setup DFS-R to another NAS attached to a separate server, all looked OK but no connection was made. I've been trying some diagnosis and came up with a number of issues.
- I can setup DFS-R but replication will not start
- I cannot connect to VDS
- CHKDSK will run on the boot drive but stops at 67% on the iSCSI drive with an unspecified error occurs (696e647863686b2e e19)
- If I try to disconnect the NAS using the initiator the initiator window hangs
- I shut down the NAS and rebooted but still VDS wont load.
- If I try to run windows update the window hangs
- A suggestion of repairing WMI failed (sorry to be vague but I have looked at so many posts relating to these issues)
The common denominator appears to the svchost netsvcs process which handles a number of services. Unfortunately I have no idea when this problem occurred or what caused it as quite honestly the server is doing what I expect and throwing no errors other than when I try to change things.
I'm limited in the tests I can try as this is still a live server and the iSCSI connection hosts desktop/my docs folder redirects.
I'm not really expecting a fix just hoping that someone can suggest some enhanced way of diagnosing the issues.
Baz
