Storage Spaces mirroring, ReFS self-healing, and VHDX volumes

I know ReFS is supposed to be able to automatically retrieve the good copy of a file in a mirrored Storage Space if it detects a file is corrupted.

However, in my instance I have set up a mirrored Storage Space in Hyper-V Server (formatted using ReFS), then created a VHDX virtual disk stored on that Storage Space. The VHDX virtual disk (also formatted using ReFS) is then mounted in a Server 2012 Essentials VM and is used for data storage.

So, my question is, what happens if the ReFS file system on the VHDX disk finds a corrupted file within that VHDX disk, which is stored on the ReFS mirrored Storage Space? Is the ReFS file system on the VHDX disk away of the mirrored Storage Space below it? If it isn't, then that means there is no way for a ReFS VHDX on a mirrored Storage Space to self-heal itself by retrieving the good copy of a file, right?

I would very much appreciate any insight anyone can provide on this scenario.
