Hello all,
does anybody knows if there is a relationship between deduplication rate and NTFS allocation unit size? In other words is there any difference in the deduplication saving if I format an NTFS volume with 4 KB, 8 KB, 16 KB, etc. block size?
TechNet says:"The goal is to store more data in less space by segmenting files into small variable-sized chunks (32–128 KB), identifying duplicate chunks, and maintaining a single copy of each chunk."
I didn't find any reference to the block size / allocation unit size so I think there's no difference. Any idea?
