I have a 2008 R2 Server running DFSR. We want to upgrade it to 2012. Is it best to do an in place upgrade, or to set up a new server, add to the replication group, and then remove the old server. Will the DFSR database upgrade and will it keep the status of the synchronization?
The main issue is that we run end user backups to the file server and if we have to move that, we have to hit 100 computers to change the software to the new file server name. But if it is the only way, then so be it.
Any input would be appreciated.
