Hoping somebody can shed some light on a setup and performance question I have regarding MPIO.
we have 2 * 2012 (not R2) Hyper-V boxes with 3 iSCSI links setup. We are using CSVs hosted on another 2012 storage server (with 4 iSCSI links setup). All links are 1GB.
Now a question about MPIO, we have enabled it on the hypervisors but not on the storage servers - do we need to set it up on the storage servers too?
When we setup the initiators on the hypervisors I've seen several articles on putting a specific mapping of nic on host to nic on storage server but this seems a lot of overhead for something that should be fairly intelligent as that would mean creating 4 sessions per ip address?
Then once setup are we better to use round robin or least queue depth?
Any help you can offer is appreciated.
