Hi,
We've recent had some server files issues and we had to retrieve different snapshots of our share folders via VSS. We've ran into a slight issue of character limit and are not able to restore these files. I am guessing that they are just below the character limit with the actual folder and that's how they got there in the first place. But since VSS adds the path of \\localhost\c$\ before the actual folder and file name, and its now over the limit.
My question is, is there anyway to retrieve these files that are "stuck" inside the VSS snapshots? When I try to open and open some files, I am getting "The source file name(s) are larger than is supported by the file system. Try moving to a location which has a shorter path name, or try renaming to shorter name(s) before attempting this operation." Are we hooped on this one? Is there any way to extract that information?
We are running Server 2008 Standard 32bit with SP2. Any help would be much appreciated.
