Hello All,
I am looking into how to implement DFS on a Windows 2012 R2 server and very new to this. Currently we use just a basic File Server on 2008 R2 and have GPO Drive Mapping to control access between our departments. I would like to use DFS as I have read how simply and secure it is but I do not see anything on how this is published to the End Users nor does any guide/tutorial go into deep folder creation.
Goals:
create folders for each department (Around 6 folders), Create Public and Self-Help Folders.
Setup Permissions for Department 1 has full owner rights on Dept 1 folder, etc. Only allow scaled down permissions for departments that need to access Dept 1 folder, etc.
After that is setup do I use GPO to map the drive to the end-users? That is the part I am lost at.
