I have two files servers with the name File-1 and File-bak in one domain. I installed DFS Replication role on both servers and created a replication group for collection. File-1 is the source server, file-bak the destination server. One day I found several hard disks crashed on file-bak. So I disabled the two replicated folders under Memberships tab and the two entries under Connections tab within DFS Management. After fixing the hard disks on file-bak, I enabled the members and connections that I disabled before. The next day, a nightmare came to me that a huge amount of data disappeared on file-1 (about 3TB ). Thanks to the post “DFS replication cause missing files”, I finally found the file in the folder E:\System Volume Information\DFSR\Private\... How to restore all the data to the original path ?
Background: file-1 is a virtual server based on VMware ESXI 5.1, and file-bak is a physical server.
