XP Clients unable to access Server 2012 clustered file share

Hi,

I have a Server 2012 clustered file server. Clients are able to connect shares on this without problems from Win 7, Win 8 and Server 2008r2. However I am getting an error from XP and 2003r2 clients. I understand that XP and 2003 r2 will be using SMB1.0 whereas the newer Windows will be using SMB 2.0+.

Trying to shares through DFS I get "\\dfsroot\path\etc is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found."

Trying to access the share by a direct UNC path (i.e. no DFS) I get "\\fsc is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Logon Failure: The target account name is incorrect."

I've read that the second message can be related to DNS and have tried setting HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\DisableStrictNameChecking to 1 but this hasn't helped. I can't see anything obvious in the event viewer at either end.

Has anybody got any suggestions where I can go from here?

Thanks,

Tim
