We are currently running Windows2003R2 as our DFS server. This server has three network drives to address the Department folders and User folders. Some of the department folders are replicating to remote servers. The remote servers are running Windows2008R2.
I want to migrate the Windows2003 DFS server to Windows 2012 in virtual environment. Please advise how I can migrate to new serevr with minimum downtime to the users. I am thinking of splitting the department and user folder to multiple DFS servers. Also advise how I can get fault tolerance and high availability on the DFS servers in VMware environment.
