Migrate from DFS 2003 R2 or (Windows Server 2000 mode) to Windows 2008 R2

Hi,

I'm currently running a single DFS namespace (13 folders) which is in Windows Server 2000 mode. It was originally installed on Windows Server 2003 R2 member hosts when the domain was 2003 R2. I've since moved the domain functional levels to Windows 2008 R2 and replaced all the member servers running DFS with 2008 R2. How can I now migrate the namespace to the 2008 R2 mode with as little downtime and problems as possible?

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753875.aspx

1. Can I clarify the steps given in the above link mean that DFS would be offline for a small period of time whilst the current namespace is deleted, AD syncs between our 3 sites and 6 domain controllers, plus updates the DFS member servers in 2 of the 3 sites?

2. After completing the steps would it be a good idea to repadmin /syncall on DC's with FSMO roles?

3. Is it ok creating the same named namespace and has anyone had any problems with this?

4. Is there a simpler way of doing the migration without deleting the namespace (probably a dumb question)?

Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated.
