8dot3 creation is enabled but nothing has 8dot3 names attached ("dir /x" only shows full names and no short names). Java et. al. only accepting 8dot3 path/file names cannot access the expected 8dot3 path because they don't exist. How can we fix
it ? "C:\Progra~1" or similar does not exist ! How can we force the immediate creation of the 8dot3 equivalents to be added to the NTFS objects ???
