Server 2012 iSCSI initiator connects but there is no volume in Server Manager

I have a NAS box with 2008 storage server and Starwind iSCSI and I have a target on that box, no authentication. Target size is 8.1Tb. I can connect to it with the iSCSI initiator on my Server 2012 box but the volume does not show in Server Manager or Powershell.  It shows up in iSCSI Initiator Device properties, see screenshot.  This is very frustrating as I need this NAS to connect to a specific server to copy data from the DAS storage on that server.  This configuration has worked previously with a Server 2008 box.

I have tried connecting the NAS to a Server 2012 VM and the volume shows up instantly so I know it should work. That is not satisfactory as I must copy the data through a file share over my VM network and that is too slow and slows down VM access.

I have removed Dell MPIO software but that did not help.  See screenshots, they show only the two DAS drives inside the server.  Rescanning storage does nothing.  Restarting the server does nothing.  Why does this specific server not show the iSCSI disk?  Help!
