I have windows server 2012 and it acts as a file server. I would like to know how can I give access to users to do the following: read, open subfolders, open files and edit files,save the files. however, they should not be able to delete any file. is this possible?
in the Advanced tab of security, I tried to select modify, read and write. but,when I click advanced permission, by default, the delete as well it ticked. if I remove the delete tick, modify is not selected.
is there a way on allowing users to modify and save, lets say excel or word documents, but they cannot delete any file or folders?
