Hello. We are looking for a new/better solution to setup profiles and H drives within our environment.
We have over 120 sites (most are only 3-5 person locations) and is all within 1 domain.
Every site has a DC and DFS server. Half the sites using 2008 R2 and other half are 2012 R2. Clients are Win7.
When people log in at their remote site their H drive connects to their local server and there is no issues.
We have DFS setup so that the H drives from each location get synchronized with DFS servers at the central
location. Hub and Spoke.
Here is where we have issues.
About 25 percent of our users travel between a few different locations.
Most use PCs at their alternate locations.
What ever location they are in the most is where their H drive files are located. When the travel to another site and log
in they get their H drive files from the central location. This is fine when it works but most of the time it is very
slow and a lot of times while they are working, the files within their H drive get greyed out until they logoff/logon again.
Probably caused by a very slow connection or a slight internet connection drop. If it happens when they are modifying a document then they lose all the work they put in to it and have to start over.
Is there a better way to set this up or better solution that we should use that would help the users when they go to their
alternate sites so that they don't lose their work if there is a slight internet disconnection?
Thanks if advance.
