we have set up two servers running windows Server 2008 SP1. The one is a typical fileserver, the other is backup Domain Controller, Backup fileserver, Backup DNS and DHCP server. To set up DFSR between the two systems we used the wizzard. On the fileserver all seems to work fine. The other one however is generating error 9214 (-583), event id 2104 and error 9014, event id 2004. We have tried almost everything i could find on the internet to no avail. The other day we set up replication between the two systems, but used another disk to replicate to on the backup machine. This worked perfectly. I'm starting to think that it has something to do with the harddrive. The drive it works on is a mirrored volume of 365 GB. The harddrive it does not work on is a raid 5 volume of 1.82 TB. At first this was one big volume of 3.63 TB. We have split it into two partitions to make sure that the volume was not to big. Other than tearing down the raid 5 volume I have no other ideas left. Trying to re-install DFSR all together would mean removing the DC from the backup system.
