We use a Dell NX3000 series NAS for corporate file sharing. It contains two boot drives in a RAID 10 config (160 GB each) and four 1 TB drives in a RAID 5 config. The available space for file sharing is 3 TB. We need to upgrade existing (4) 1 TB drives as we are out of space and the NAS has six drive bays.
The plan is to pull the existing 1 TB drives and replace them with four (4) TB drives and keep in a RAID 5 config. I would first backup the 3 TB file sharing partition to external source then restore onto the new drives. This will take us from 3 to 12 TB of available storage.
My question is how to handle this on the Windows side. The NAS runs Windows Storage Server Standard SP2 (2008). I would leave the boot drives as is. The question is what are the steps to reconfigure the disk partition using the new drives? Attached are screen shots of my existing configuration. Thanks for any help.
