DFS-Namespace 2008 R2 Deployment attempting to use ABE within the namespace with a Domain Functional level of 2003 Server

I am attempting to deploy DFS-Namespaces using Access Base Enumeration enabled on the share attached to the said namespace.  I can't turn on ABE within the DFS Management console because our Domain Functional Level is back on 2003.  Is there a way to take advantage of the features of ABE at the shared level within a DFS-Namespace?
