Hello -
We have a Windows 2008 R2 file server running on a Dell R-720 platform; the machine has 256 GB of RAM and we are using local and SAN storage on the server. Since this is a file server, we have users connecting their home drive and other drives to different shares on the server. We have McAfee AV on the server which is managed by ePO.
At sporadic times users will loose connection to the shares and then they'll get an hour-glass trying to connect to the shares, in some instance they will eventually get connected and in some instance the connection will time out.
Looking at the server logs, I see SRV errors on the server, I know these mean issues on the network but I've checked with the network team and they are not seeing any errors on the switch port. I've also changed the physical port on the server and also updated the drivers.
Another thing to note is that I was also running backups (Full) using NetbackUP, but I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the outage. Issue is that it's so sporadic that I"m not able to pin-point on one item.
Has anyone seen such a behavior in a similar environment?
