Accessing UNC Path from Run Dialog As Different User

Hi Everyone,

I recently migrated a file share from Windows Server 2012 R2 to Windows Server 2016. Ever since this change, I am not prompted for credentials when accessing \\servername\sharename$ while logged on as a different user that doesn't have rights. An error message stating that I don't have rights to the share is displayed (as expected, I suppose).

Mapping the drive as a different user works.... it's just a bit more inconvenient.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Previously, I'd be able to be logged on as the user, hit the UNC path, and then just type my own credentials in the prompt to gain access.
