MPIO Failed Paths Disappear

Hi,

I am testing a new storage server on our SAN and am having trouble with MPIO.  The storage server is running COMSTAR targeting software, with LUNs being presented over FC.  After configuring MPIO to claim the devices I present to my Server 2012 server, I can see the disks with the appropriate number of paths in a round-robin Active/Active mode.

The problem that I am seeing--well, I am not sure that it is unexpected--is that when I remove a path to my disks, that path is removed from the MPIO device.  If I remove all paths, my disk disappears.  The failed paths do not come pack until I restart the (initiator/Server 2012) server.

I would think that the record of the path would persist in a "failed" state until a retry was successful, in which case the path would be brought back online.

Is there something wrong with my MPIO configuration?  Or is it likely a harware/storage server-side problem (details below)?  COMSTAR, as far as I can find, does not have a DSM.

Storage server:
- OpenIndiana (current version)
- QLogic HBAs on server/target
- Emulex HBAs on client/initiator
- HP Brocade FC switches
- COMSTAR targeting software

My MPIO settings are (Updated from original posting):

PathVerificationState     : Enabled
PathVerificationPeriod    : 5
PDORemovePeriod           : 1500
RetryCount                : 300
RetryInterval             : 5
UseCustomPathRecoveryTime : Disabled
CustomPathRecoveryTime    : 40
DiskTimeoutValue          : 60

Thanks!

Matthew
