Hi All,
I have just built up a test Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition Server and have a folder on the D Drive which I have shared. For Example D:\Shared. I have set the Share Permissions on this folder so that my normal user account (eg pjscott13) and my administrator account (eg admin) have full control. I have then set the folder permissions as the default (Admins FC and Users Read and Execute) and then added my normal account (pjscott13) with Modify permissions and my Admin account is a member of the local Admins group, so should have Full Control.
No matter what computer or user account I try to access this shared folder from I get some variation of an error message saying that access is denied or the folder is inaccessible. If i access the shared folder locally on the Win 2012 server by going to \\server\shared I can access it but not from a Win 7/2008R2 Server or Win 2003 Server. I have since disabled the firewall on the Win 2012 server and still it fails. If I go to \\server I can see the shared folders but can't access them.
Can anyone please help?! Surely it isn't meant to be this difficult! I have done this so many times on every other version of windows and never had this much trouble.
