Ricoh Aficio MP C2051 Scan to Folder - Windows Server 2012 Error: Authentication with the destination has failed check settings

$

0

I have recently upgraded a clients servers to Windows Server 2012 & since doing so have lost the ability to scan to folder.

Both servers are domain controllers and previously on a 2008 domain controller I would have had to make the following change to allow scan to folder:
 Administrative Tools
 Server Manager
 Features
 Group Policy Manager
 Forest: ...
 Default Domain Policy
Computer configuration
 Policies
 Windows Settings
 Security Settings
 Local Policies
 Security Options
Microsoft Network Server: Digitally Sign Communications (Always)
 - Define This Policy
 - Disabled

However I have applied this to the Windows 2012 server but am still unable to scan, possibly due to added layers of security in server 2012. The error on the scanner is Authentication with the destination has failed check settings.
I have also tried the following at the server:
Policies -> Security Policies
Change Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level to: Send LM & NTLM - Use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated.
Network security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including secure RPC) clients and uncheck the require 128 bit.
Network security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including secure RPC) servers and uncheck the require 128 bit
I have created a user account on the server for the ricoh and set this in the settiings of the Ricoh and verified everything is correct.

Are there any other things I have missed?

Windows 2012 File Cluster Deduplication Issue (Garbarge Collection not working)

$

Hi

I have a 2 node Windows 2012 Standard File Cluster with 5 cluster roles.  I have about 250TB of storage present to the cluster split down into lots of smaller sizes.  One of my colleagues enabled Data deduplication on one of the drives, the drive in question is 30TB in size.  Something happen over a course of 48 Hours and used up all the free space.

My problem is I have moved around 1TB data of the drive to another Drive but windows is still reports there is no disk space.

I have run the following command from powershell but it has not helped.

"start-dedupjob -volume <DriveLetter> -Type GarbageCollection -Full" and "start-dedupjob -volume <DriveLetter> -Type GarbageCollection -Full -Priority High".  Both times I can see the job has been scheduled and is running with "Get-dedupjob" but the job just sites at 0% progress, I have left the job to run for 5 hours and still no change in the progress and no disk space reclaimed.

I have read on another forum to turn off Deduplication and then run the Garbagecollection again but when I turn off deduplication within seconds it has been re-enabled, almost like it does not turn it off.

This is a major issue for me and if anyone can help that would be grate.

I use the following robocopy command to copy files from old to a new server:

@ECHO OFF

SET _source=d:\data\
SET _dest=\\newserver\DATA\

SET _what=/COPYALL /ZB /secfix /SEC /MIR

SET _options=/R:0 /W:0 /LOG:C:\MyLogfile.txt

ROBOCOPY %_source% %_dest% %_what% %_options%

How can i change this command to only log changes new files and directories.  Right now is logging everything.

Server 2012 R2 File Server Stops Responding to SMB Connections

$

Hi There,

Massive shot in the dark here but I am struggling with a pretty major issue atm.  We have a production file server that is hosted on the following:

Dell MD 3220i -> iSCSI -> Server 2008 R2 Hyper-v Cluster -> Passthrough Disk -> Server 2012 R2 File Server VM

Essentially 3 times now, roughly a month or so apart.  The file server stops accepting connections.  During this time, the server is perfectly accessible through rdp or with a simple ping.  I can browse the files on the server directly but no-one appears to be able to access the shares over SMB.  A reboot of the server fixes the issue.

As per a KB article I removed nod antivirus from the server to rule out a conflicting filter mode driver after the second fault.  Sadly yesterday it happened again.

The only relevant errors in the servers log files are:

SMB Server Event ID 551

SMB Session Authentication Failure Client Name: \\192.168.105.79 Client Address: 192.168.105.79:50774 User Name: HHS\H6-08$ Session ID: 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF Status: Insufficient server resources exist to complete the request. (0xC0000205) Guidance: You should expect this error when attempting to connect to shares using incorrect credentials. This error does not always indicate a problem with authorization, but mainly authentication. It is more common with non-Windows clients. This error can occur when using incorrect usernames and passwords with NTLM, mismatched LmCompatibility settings between client and server, duplicate Kerberos service principal names, incorrect Kerberos ticket-granting service tickets, or Guest accounts without Guest access enabled

and

SMB Server event ID 1020
File system operation has taken longer than expected.

Client Name: \\192.168.105.97
Client Address: 192.168.105.97:49571
User Name: HHS\12J.Champion
Session ID: 0x2C07B40004A5
Share Name: \\*\Subjects
File Name:
Command: 5
Duration (in milliseconds): 176784
Warning Threshold (in milliseconds): 120000

Guidance:

The underlying file system has taken too long to respond to an operation. This typically indicates a problem with the storage and not SMB.

I have checked the underlying disk/iscsi/network hyper-v cluster for any other errors or issues, but as far as I can tell everything is fine.

Is it possible that something else is left over from the NOD antivirus installation?

Looking for suggestions on how to troubleshoot this further.

Thanks

Storage spaces , stale metadata

$

Hi!

First of all, unfortuneatly I wasn't able to attach screenshots, so I'll try to describe the problem in text.

I ran in to a storage spaces problem on a Windows server 2012 where the pool is degraded. Disk 9 seems to have been evicted to the primordial pool.

Running the Get-PhysicalDisk shows a Stale Metadata operational status.

PhysicalDisk9       False               Stale Metadata      Warning             Auto-Select

However, I've got no alerts from our SCOM monitoring regarding this.  Also when looking in the raid tools supplied by the JBOD manufacturer everything seems to be fine, so I got no alerts from that one either. In the manufacturers software the disk is reported as Status: available with 0 SMART errors.

So the question is: What is the stale metadata error? Is this disk actually broken? (doesnt seem like that according to the vendors utilitys). Should this disk be replaced or is it some kind of software errror that can be repaired?

Advice needed.

DFS-R folder resources Failed in Failover Cluster on Server 2008 R2

$

Maybe a week ago, 7 of our DFS-R Folder failover cluster resources lost their configuration data. In the resource list, they just show up as "()".

I've seen suggestions online that disabling the replicated folder will remove it from the Failover Cluster, and then re-enabling it will automatically add it back to the cluster. So, I've disabled it via the Connections tab, and that does nothing. The other option is to disable it under the Memberships tab...but that has consequences, and I would rather not do that if it isn't necessary.

I'm also now seeing event ID 5012's popping up in the DFS Replication logs every hour or so.

The DFS Replication service failed to communicate with partner etc etc. The partner did not recognize the connection or thereplication group configuration.

Error: 9026 (The connection is invalid)

Now, "dfsrdiag pollad /verbose" or "dfsrdiag pollad /mem:<dc name>" both come back as successful. And a DFS Diagnostic Report brings back nothing apparently relevant to this issue, other than one error concerning the same event ID 5012's.

Also, I've verified that it's not a DNS issue, pinging the home office DFS server from the site server resolves correctly, and vice versa. And the windows firewall is disabled on both servers. It's POSSIBLE that there is a network issue. Replication works fine between the site server and the 2nd cluster server service, just not between the site server and the 1st cluster server service. However, via netstat I see active connections between the site server and the cluster server, as well as the active cluster host (although, just a single connection to the clustered DFS server, but ~6 to the cluster host itself).

So, I'm completely at a loss here. Any recommendations?

Storage spaces: resynchronization parity\mirror

Hi.
If i configure raid-5 or raid-1 on hardware raid-controller (or in Windows over Disk Manager) then i can to seesynchronization process in application from raid-controller (or in Disk Manager).
How i can to see synchronization process, if these spaces was configured on Storage Services 2012 R2?

I have read blog about Storage Services, but not understand this question and answer:

Q) Can I trigger resynchronization myself?

Yes. If you don’t want to wait for automatic resynchronization to start, you can choose the Repair command via PowerShell, which will initiate resynchronization so long as suitable replacement disks and/or spare capacity is available.

But, i didn't found this cmdlet.

Thank You!

We are having two windows server 2008 R2. In that we have, two hard disk and each with 146GB storage capacity. But it is displaying only the storage capacity of a single hard disk. Seems like the second hard disk in not recognized.

What can be done to clear this?

DFSR Alternatives

Hey all,

I have a fairly large DFSR implementation in which I think I am pushing the limits. I have already passed the recommended limits and am now pushing roughly 8 TB per set of servers and over 10 million files. I have 9 of these so its like 72 TB. I was wondering if anyone has any better more robust solutions or if I just need to add more sets of DFSR servers to spread the data out more.

Here's what I need from a solution which are all included in DFSR: ( a full appliance style hardware solution

1. A distributed Namespace - i.e. one virtual name can point to multiple servers\share on the back side.

2. Two way replication, real time (or close to it)

3. Ability to prioritize where the user load goes and be able to move the users around on the back side.

4. Ability for users to connect to any of the machines in the namespace (i.e. not read only, nearline, or offline)

Thanks in advance

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

what you guys use for production vm storage?

i mean explicitly not labs / homes but something you roll in the office you don't own yourself :)

would you put into production some free solution with allowed commercial use (no eula violation! ) but with community only / limited vendor support?

what would be a game changer for you? say going freenas (free) -> truenas (paid) upgrade?

tnx!! :)

Handling updates on a SOFS using RDS 2012R2 and deduplication

$

So we are using RDS 2012R2 with well over 100 Personal VMs. The data sits on a Scale Out File Server that is deduplicated. Everything is good except on patch day. I am currently sitting around 45% free with my space but on patch day i dip very low. The more/bigger the patches the closer to 0% i get. It then dedupes out and i am back to the 45% range. What is Microsofts recommendation to handle this huge patch dip?

folder redirection directory change

hello,

i am an ict technician at a school in belgium.
i have a problem with folder redirection, orginaly the folder redirection was configured for SOME of the users f.e:
my document to \\dc1\homedir\%username%\my documents

now the following problem , my dc1 storage was not enough to keep up with the place of the documents etc

2 weeks ago all of my users have folder redirection to \\dc2\homedir\%username%\my documents.
for the "new users" that didnt used the dc1 before is their no problem but for the users that did use the dc1 is their a problem.
the sync center doesnt remove the \\dc1 location and gives conflicts.
the sync center gives the following locations : \\dc1 and \\dc2.
also when they create a word document and save it under my documents they somethimes get an error, file corrupted or path unfindable. or when they download something it sais u dont have the rights to open while they just downloaded it.
also somethimes f.e they get no icons on the desktop or on the start menu they are just white icons.

the only option i know for now is to delete the user profile on the local pc , log in again.
the user get an temp. account, i log in to my admin again and delete the .bak from the registry
log in again with the new user and the sync center is allright.
also theirs no more problem with word or what so ever.
but this is insane because we have allot of users and allot of pc's its almost impossible to go from pc to pc to remove the users.

thanks in advance !

iCACLS question

Using Windows 2012 R2 I am trying to understand iCACLS command to fix permissions on a folder.

Default permissions using iCACLS looks like:

NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(F)
NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)(IO)(F)

Looking at permissions in the GUI from the advanced dialog, SYSTEM account has full permissions. There are other ACE entries for other accounts but only the single entry for SYSTEM account.

When I attempt to reproduce the first ACE setting for SYSTEM permission using iCACLS or GUI and it comes out as:

NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)(IO)(F)

What is the additional ACE seen in iCACLS and how do i reproduce this?

I am in a process of using robocopy to transfer data between servers.  Destination is Server 2012.  Here is my command

robocopy "d:\Kiosk" "\\POPCORN\Kiosk" /e /zb /Copyall /mir /secfix /sec /log+:C:\copy.log

It seems that the modified data is copied OK but once I click on the folder it all changes to the date it arrived on the new server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Dear All,

I have  a DFS file server with following setup

2 windows 2012 r2 server with DFS, AD based  dfs name space is created and all the share folders are created on server 1, and a replica is added to server2, all the files are replicated perfectly.

If my server 1 is failed, will all the users get the shared folders from server2 automatically?

how we can achieve high availability with DFS  ?

but when i put it with 'C' drive it worked well.!

i was trying to merge two drives in order to get one empty drive to install ubuntu.

File Server loses all it's shares and becomes unavailable

We have problems with a Windows Server 2008 R2 File Server. At random the file server loses all it's shares and the homedrive and application shares are not available anymore. A reboot seems the only way to solve this, untill it happens again. Today we had another crash and we were able to create a manual dump of the Server service. I have used WinDBG to analyze the dump, but I'm not really confident what I can use from this dump. Here is a copy of the dump:

Unable to delete DFSR folder on Server 2012

Hello,

I know this should be simple as I have done it several times - just never on Server 2012.  I need to re-create the DFSR DB (it is corrupt).

When I attempt the command ' E:\System Volume Information>rmdir DFSR /s ' I get several errors like the one below.  I usually don't see character/path complaints from a cmd promt.  It is elevated too.

The path DFSR\Private\{F9037B4B-5D15-4797-9E30-48EFEB34D787}-{58600AAF-A276-48C3

}-v299-{34668DCB-CC9D-4980-9032-AE465FBCBAEF}-v299-Downloaded.frx is too long.

If I attempt from the GUI, nothing happens.  I did give myself FC permissions to the SysVol folder.  I even tried drilling a few folders down using the GUI and same thing, nothing happens.

Thank you!

Local Storage Spaces on Hyper-V cluster nodes

Hello,

Have Hyper-V cluster with several nodes and SMB storage for it.

Need to attach local SSD storage to hyper-v node servers.

If node Hyper-V server configured that it's local storage bus is RAID, then i can create local storage spaces pool without problems.

If node Hyper-V server configured that it's local storage bus is SAS, then storage spaces subsystem becomes "Clustered Storage Spaces" and i have problems. Can't create local storage spaces pool.

How prevent storage spaces subsystem becoming "clustered storage spaces" ?
